My MUA is Mozilla-Thunderbird since I migrated the operating system from Windows to Linux. After a while i experimented with gpg and the enigmail-plugin.
The first problem was a while ago, when after a update enigmail didn’t recognise the key-management any more. gpg had no problems and so i found after a little searching the solution in updating the whole stuff from sources.

After my last update to enigmail version 0.95.6 i noticed, that after replying to messages and trying to sign them, the first quote character “>” changed to the pipe-charakter “|”. First i believed in a strange behavior of the clippings-add-on, but after an extensive searching in the large web (everyone wants to change the colors of the quoting bars) I got the hint, enigmail is the bad guy. The hint for the solution of the problem was found at gmane.enigmail. The next problem appeard whith the missing option to set this parameter. Knowing what to search i landed on a site with default options for enigmail where the line to paste in my user.js appeared:

pref("mailnews.send_plaintext_flowed", false);
